Gudrun Sibbons
Born in Germany in 1924, Gudrun Sibbons was a medical student until the war intervened and she fled to England. She had painted since childhood but only began painting seriously during the 1950’s and some of her well known early clients included David Niven and Erroll Flynn, helping to make her an instant success.
Her work has featured in numerous exhibitions. Gudrun has always painted landscapes, working in oils, in a distinctive continental style having been influenced by the Dutch Masters.
A typical scene may contain a marine or coastal or river setting, often with fishing overtones and Dutch backgrounds sailing boats and colourful figures. Other times it may be pastoral farming background with haystacks, horses and dogs. Her work is full of drama with powerful skies and breath taking light reminiscent of Turner and can have a powerful emotional and even spiritual impact.
It is not suprising that her work is widely sought after and features in numerous collections around the world. We are proud to say we have been exhibiting Gudrun’s work for approximately thirty years.
Now well into her eighties, Gudrun Sibbons lives on the South Coast.

Title: Rainbow Bloom
Medium: Acrylic On Canvas Image Size: 24" x 24"

Artist Biography:John Horsewell
John Horsewell was born in London in 1956. John has been painting for over thirty years and has built a fine reputation during that time. His father, Ron Horsewell, has been a professional artist for over thirty years and John has naturally followed in his footsteps.
He started painting professionally after studying art at college and his style seemed at first to be similar to that of his father. However, over the last few years, John has branched out and established his own superb touch.
Galleries have noticed the resemblance of two famous artists in John Horsewell's work and he has undoubtedly been strongly influenced by John Haskins and Myles Birkett Foster. John’s blend of the two seems to produce very striking paintings, combining the impressionist style of Haskins with the fine soft colours and finer detail of Birkett Foster.
Works by Horsewell are now in great demand such is the appeal of his style.

Albert Herkelman (Landscape Artist)
Born 1945- Schiedam, Holland
Compared to other countries the Netherlands have always had a lot of artistic talent, and Albert Herkelman carries on this tradition. He was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam from 1962 – 1966.
It was not until 1980 that Albert decided to study the work of Barend Cornelis Koekkoek (1803-1862). His fabulous technique and romantic style appealed to Herkelman. Koekkoek had learned his trade from among others, Daiwaille who became famous and settled in Cleves, Nijmegen.
Like a modern day Charles Leickert or Andreas Schelfhout, the work of Albert Herkelman reflects the Dutch Golden Age of traditional canal scenes and romantic woodland landscapes.
His romantic style, quality and exceptional craftsmanship have made Albert’s work the centre of many exhibitions throughout Europe. With few paintings coming from his easel each year his work will only become more collectable.

Biography: Joe Hush
Born in Rothbury in 1951 but was raised in Alnwick. Living in and around beautiful countryside in Northumberland has certainly been an inspiration for my paintings. Originally I worked for Hardy Bros of Alnwick making fishing tackle and moved to Washington in 1976 to do much the same, this is when I met my wife of 30 years and we now have two children. I am a self-taught artist and have painted most of my life for pleasure but it wasn't until 1993 that I decided to go professional. The business started by undertaking commissions of country homes and farms whilst out sketching. Many commissions came through word of mouth that led to several Art Exhibitions in Chester-le-Street, Durham and Alnwick. My work is now distributed throughout the UK. I am also kept busy with demonstrations at Art Societies and as a tutor at evening classes, which I find both enjoyable and fulfilling.
I am primarily a landscape artist painting scenes in Northumberland, The Lake District and Scotland. I work in Acrylic, Oils and Watercolours, I try to capture and convey my feelings of a particular subject, I still remain mesmerised seeing a scene materialise onto paper or canvas.

Title: Rhythm Of Life
Medium: Oil On Canvas Image Size: 20" X 24"

Artist: Erich Paulsen
Artists Biography
Erich was born in a small village near Berlin. Erich showed a prodigious talent for painting as he was growing up. But his father urged him to learn a normal profession and so he became a varnisher & whitewasher.
The foreman in that firm painted landscapes in his leisure time and the young Paulsen watched him.
He was very eager to try also but he had no money to buy colour oil paints nor brushes.
So one day he took clandestinely some of the colours, but he could not take brushes which the foreman kept in a separate place.
So he used the scraper spatula which he normaly took to remove old layers of colour and he painted a landscape with houses.
When the foreman saw this he gave him a big threshold, then he looked at Paulsens first painting and said:
‘You are much more talented than I. You can take all my colours, you will have great success’.
This was the start of a very successful artistic career, which led him to the Meisterschule fur Malerei up to that time one of the most well known artists.
In general Erich Poulsen prefers to paint landscapes and city scenes. The vibrancy of his palette and strong textural approach using a palette knife gives his paintings a particular flair that is completely unique in the field of contemporary art.
At once, Paulsen continues the legacy of impressionist painting and brings his work into the modern age.
Critically Paulsen has attracted high acclaim throughout the world. His work has been recognized in a number of exhibitions from New York to Sydney and enjoys a growing collective of serious collectors.
