Phil George was born in Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1960, and now lives in Whitley Bay on the north-east coast. Phil had worked in art and design for over twenty years in the northeast and in London. He now paints full-time
After leaving school at the age of sixteen, Phil George attended art evening classes where he was encouraged to study the subject on a full-time basis. He went on to study at the Newcastle College of Art and at North Tyneside College in the 1980's , where he was taught to draw and paint by Maurice McParthlan, then later by the painter Jeffrey Johnson. Phil completed an Art Foundation course and then a HND in graphic design.
Of his new collection Phil George says, "My current City Gent paintings draw inspiration somewhere between Reggie Perrin and John Steed".
