Joanne Shaw was born in 1974 in Castleford, West Yorkshire. She studied Graphic Design at Wakefield College before deciding to pursue a full time career as a fine artist.
Commissions include five original portraits of rock stars for the Hard Rock Café International, USA; a series of paintings for Bel-Air Hotel, Los Angeles; and an invitation to paint a portrait of Prince Charles for his fiftieth birthday, which the artist presented to HRH in person.
Joanne was also commissioned to paint a portrait of the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence, which inspired the singer's family to set up a charity in his memory to help disadvantaged children around the world. This painting is still used to raise funds and awareness for the foundation. The singer Anastacia endorsed a portrait Joanne painted of her and it was used to raise money for the Breast Cancer appeal organised by 'You' magazine.
Joanne primarily works in oil on canvas. Her work appears in public and private collections throughout Europe and the United States.
