Mehdi was born on April 4th, 1953 in Teheran.He grew up in a bohemian family. His farther, who had been a successful painter, educated his son in drawing and painting.After his schooldays, he visited the school of art in Teheran, especially interested in the works of Monet, Manet and Pissaro.In 1987 Mehdi emigrated to Germany. He fulfilled his desire to explore a more European painting style through visiting a German school of art.

In his paintings, Mehdi works with grand, romantic structures and the people that inhabit and interact with them. From the permanent inhabitants to the most fleeting of visitors, he seeks to create a unity between man and his landscape.
